'98 Bonneville gauges bounce irradically and no heat.
I tried searching with several terms and found nothing relevant to the issue I've just started having with my car. I was driving home and had heat, later on in the drive the heat stopped working. The fan was blowing air but no heat. I checked my gauges and the temp gauge was fine as well as the battery and oil gauge. Then the next day the heat started working and had no problems. But on my way home from school it worked for maybe about 20 minutes and then stopped again. This time though the gauges were moving around, the temp gauge was going up and down and the oil gauge was going up and down. The battery was reading higher than normal. I'm a girl and I know very little about what is going on and all i know is that it is freezing outside. If anyone knows what is wrong and could help me out i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

For the heating problem 1st check the coolant level in the radiator & see if there'* enough antifreeze in the coolant .
The electrical problems could be the alternator going. Your local auto parts store will usually check this for you.

If there is air in radiator or heater, do you have a bleed valve on the thermostat housing to bleed out the last air that can get trapped due to the shape of the hoses to the radiator?
I'm interested in what you find here.

How Low is Low? Was the overflow tank empty? Even better yet how much coolant did you have to put in the car?

I looked around underneath my car and there were no leaks anywhere. So I am not sure where it all could have gone.
The overflow tank was empty and I had to put in about 3/5ths of a container of anit-freeze.

Bring it over to my house and for about $200 in parts we can fix it
