Default How to access the Blower Motor Resistor??

Lost 3rd blower speed on a 94 Olds 88

It'* actually intermittent, and will switch on 3rd speed 5% of the time-all other speeds work fine. Checked switch, and it'* not the problem (maybe poor connection at the resistor pack?).

It'* supposed to be on top of the blower box on top, under the high amp fuse and relay assembly.

The assembly is held on with 2 6mm (10mm head) nuts, one at each end.

There'* a HEAVY bundle of red wires that prevents access to the inboard nut that is too short to move out of the way to get at the nut buried pretty deeply under the bundle.

Anyone have a trick to get at the nut?

Thanks-
Bob

First, you should disconnect the neg bat cable, because you have a hot wire going to that whole assembly, on the left hand side....

Once you remove the plastic cover, you are correct, I think there are just two 10 mm nuts,,,left is easy, the right one, I use a 1/4" , 10 mm deep socket and an extension....easy,,,,then you lift the relay bracket out of the way and the R block should be underneath it on the left hand side....

Yeah to all-

Just found it a PITA to maneuver the 10mm socket behind the red wire bundle on the right side to get that nut.

Using a 1/4" universal to get back there, I finally got it (Uggh!).

The problem was just a poor contact between the plug terminal and the socket terminal solved by twisting the male spade about 15 deg so it again made solid contact w/ the wiring harness.

A lot of work just to get all the blower speeds back, but a costless fix.
