Default engine oil light fluctuation

I noticed this morning that when I was on expressway when going 70 mph the oil light was maxed out. As I took my foot off the gas it lowered back to between 30-40.'
Is this normal

Thanks for the laugh..I've never seen an oil light maxed out.

Assuming your oil pressure was maxed and then was 30-40 .. there'* a problem here.

Oil pressure should run 15-30 at idle and 40-70 at highway speeds

I'm glad I have been able to make you laugh
what i mean by maxed out is that the needle is all the way to the right side. and as soon as I slow down it drops.
I do need an oil change which i will get this weekend.
What kind of problem could this be?

Geez..I'm slacking I hardly wrote anything.

It could be an oil sender unit. Located near the oil filter. If you are getting an oil change this weekend then you didn't just change the oil..so the right oil is in there. I could see a heavy weight oil changing pressure. And needing an oil change will usually show as reduced pressure.

Unless something major is wrong I'd say it'* either an oil pressure sender ($10-15) or a pcb problem in your cluster.

Start by looking at the sender..if it'* oily and or leaking it'* probably the sender.

Ok..I'm off to find you the picture of the pcb. I had another thought ... jimmyfloyd once had a pressure valve in the oil pump area stick and cause super high pressure...I think it took out his motor...not sure.

here'* the pic. It'* the pcb still in the cluster (lower left of pic)

Just a couple of questions.
Is the car safe to dry for a few days?
Is the oil sender under the car?
Are there any test I can do to verify the problem?
and do you have any pictures that I can follow up on?
you guys are the best!!!
