Rear strut mount ? w/pic
Hi guys,
I am finally getting around to replacing that bad rear strut mount. You can see the problem with the old one in the pic. The collar in the center seperated from the rubber. My question is my new part cam with an extra plate that my old one didnt have. Anyone know where it goes?
Thanks
Dean

Dan, not really it only fits under the mount but its too big for the strut boot to go over or in the same place the smaller one goes but it hits the underbody. Maybe its for a different chassis that uses the same mount?
Same as came out
Option based on chassis?
This last one makes the most sense to me. Its getting dark but you can see it between the yellow bump stop and the black mount. But Should I do it if the other side doesn't have it either? I do intend on changing the other at some point. And yes the boot will go over it.

I think I am going to go with option number three. If that was there I doubt the center would have ripped out of the mount bushing like it did.

I don't know? I installed it between the stop and mount. Even if it is not supposed to go there. It added less than a quarter inch to the stack height of the bump stop so it should be fine and give the same ride. The way I see it it is taking the load off the steel collar in the center of the mount. Hopfully it wont rip out again.

I recently had a front pull through. Took a look at the other side and noticed a piece like that had been left out.
Does your other side have it?

Nope both sides on the car are were the same. The guy before me had some guy in his backyard install the struts on the cheap so who knows what that guy did. I drove it around everything is fine the car feels sooooooo much better. The other side creaks and groans over certain bumps. Funny thing is the left side was so loud I never noticed the right side. That one will be this weekends project.

All that would need to be done is to pull the strut boot so that you can see how the bump stop seats to the upper mount. I don't think you can just feel it. LOL Yeah it'* not like we don't know 400 people or anything. I'm just curious now.
