Default Rear Struts PLEASE HELP!!!!

Ok guys I noticed thursday that I had a air leak coming from the rear of the car. Sure enough one of the boots on the struts had a hole in it so the repair had to commence. Today I took it to my friend garage and after about an hour and a half swapping them out we lowered the car and wouldnt you know it the damn thing sits about 5 inches higher than it did before, and the compressor didn't run once. I mean it looks as if the rear end should have leaf springs and I just beefed them up to like a 1 ton setup. Well we looked in the boxes and only one had this instruction precaution. It states to inflate the strut and then let it deflate before installation, so we took them back off and attempted to inflate them they didnt budge an inch, no a DAMN inch. So it looks like they may be siezed. My question is guys, when you have replaced the struts have you ever heard of inflating and then letting them deflate before installation? and lastly have the new struts given this much of an increase in ride height and absolute terrible ride quality? I feel like a bobble head going down the road its so uncomfortable. Any input guys would greatly help.....i need to get this done over the weekend and tomorrow is a free day for me so the sooner the better. Thanks guys

i don't know about filling up the shocks before the install or not but i do kno that you're supposed to unplug the CCR that is located under the driver seat.... did you do that?

Give the car a little time to settle back on the springs and new struts and drive it a bit. The rubber of the tires keeps them from sliding back out to the normal spot when you lower it.

The compressor with key on or 45+ seconds should relieve a little pressure..start up for a second and kick back off. That'* a normal thing. Then after sitting for up to another minute or so, can and will release air from the struts if they become overfilled when you have a lot of weight in the car and then remove it.
