94 engine into a 93
Hi Everyone,
I have a nice 93 Bonnie, which unfortunately has thrown a rod! I found a 94 engine and plan on swapping. I've noticed a few differences, like the EGR, which I figure I'll just put my old one on.
If anyone has any helpful hints, I'd surley appreciate Them!
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Thanks Dan! What do you think about trying to un[plug the wiring harness at the bulkhead?
I see people talking about it, but it looks a little spooky to me.

Can't say for sure on your year. But what I do when I pull a engine is start at the front bottom of the engine and start unplugging, then work up and over the engine. And finish at the rear bottom. Toss the wiring harness up on the windshield and your all set. Take the rear manifold off at the head and leave the manifold in the car.

Wow, am I glad I joined this forum! Thanks for that tip on the exhaust! Do you know if anyone has posted the complete r&r engine for a 93?
Thanks Again,
Jim

You take a stock rear manifold off? interesting, I take just the two studs to the DP on stockers.
You can unhook the harness at the firewall. It'* one 7mm bolt. However then you have to play with the one vacuum line and the connectors to the pcm and transmission. If you flop it like Dan suggests, it'* a bit quicker.

Thanks Bill.
Hey another question.
Books say to block up the tranny, and looking at the mounts I'm thinking it would sit OK without. What am I missing?

This is in a Bonne? No need to block the trans at all. In a Gp or other top mount based engine, you need to. But the passenger dogbone always keeps the trans sitting nice and level (along with front and rear driverside mounts) in all the Bonne'* I have ever worked on.

OK, she'* ready to come out. Taking my time, besides getting side-tracked all the time by various things.
Question tho: everything says to index the torque converter to the flex plate/drive plate. I assume this is a balancing issue. My new engine has its own drive plate. Should I switch 'em out, in other words keep my torque converter together with it'* original drive plate mate-up?
