Default ELC problem/question

Replaced my elc compressor awhile back. Car sits level. When back seat is loaded, rear end sags.
With the "elc trick" I can lift the back end up, but when you stop the compressor and let it sit, it settles down to level. Don't hear it purge. Tried the same thing, then pulled the elc fuse on engine firewall, still settled. (no power confirmed at switch)
Removed connecting rod for elc height switch and lifted lever all the way up. elc didn't come on.

Didn't have time to check elc switch connections but it sounds like I have 2 problems. Won't hold air in rear struts and height switch doesn't seem to work.

Thoughts?

Did you wait a minute for the ELC to kick in after you moved the arm? It can take up to 45 seconds, I think.

Sonoma... my 97 is doing the same thing.

I left the key on for an extended period of time while working on the car and heard the compressor kick on for 2-3 seconds every 10 minutes. The struts are beginning to fail.

As for the switch I think you are ok, sounds like you didn't leave the key on long enough. 92-95 didn't need a key and therefore you could go out to a dead battery one morning if your struts failed. They corrected that and now it takes the key plus about 45 seconds to make an adjustment.

There are 2 fuses that the ELC feeds off of, and it differs by year. Make sure you got them all.

When you say you did the ELC trick to raise the back, do you mean doing it my way by disconnecting the valve? Then it leaks back down? You have a leak between that valve and the compressor.

You say ELC doesn't come on at all when it should? Knowing the compressor works, I'd be looking at the Sensor. Assuming your fuses are all good, of course.
