Default DTC 19?? WTF???

I went for a little drive, and had Dons scanner plugged in just to see how much KR I have (which is alot, but I think that is due to the trans slippage too). I went full throttle from a rolling start and when it hit about 5k, engine bucks and throws a code. "Great" I thought, so I read all the codes it had. Among them, one stood out...DTC 19 - crankshaft sensor problem. Well, I know the sensor works because the engine is running, but I look in my FSM'* and it doesn't even MENTION DTC 19. I also Googled it and still nothing about it.

Is this some sort of fluke w/ the PCM?

I got the same code when my crank sensor was dying.

Good question. I have no answer. I think maybe it is in the 87-91 FSM.

Oh, 19 only showed up for me when it bucked like you describe.

The camshaft sensor code will not make the car shut off.
The code will cause all injectors to spit fuel at one time instead of 2 injectors per spark.
Check the wires for the proper voltage A and C while grounded.

It will run until the sensor stops sending a signal all together.

Because it is not a real code. You need a better scan tool.

I'm not so sure about that. This page lists 84-92 codes, including 19 but also indicates it is for 88-91. Confusing, yes.

However it is quite obvious the 92 L67 PCM will properly spit that code out and a good scanner like my Actron will read it knowing that it is a 92 L67.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ight=A&start=0

It also lists it as a short in the fuel pump circuit, which also could cause the hiccup. But replacement of the crank sensor did the trick for me.
