ethenol fuels
Just a thought, Since oil prices have gone up and thanks to Chevron for find a new oil supply off the Gulf of Mexico, I wonder about the new fuel with ethenol. The new cars are being engineered to be able to run on Ethenol but do our 1990-2000 Bonnevilles be able to take these fuels and will it damage our ECU'* due to (at least on our 1993 SSEI Bonnevilles) having to run Premium fuel only. Also in mind, finding the right octane booster that won't ruin fuel injector seals is short of a task in doing so. I have been researching many different types of Octane boosters on the market. I believe Lucas oil corporation has come up with a great product in battling these fuel crisis.
Thanks Bonneville Club for all the hard work and research of all makes and models of the Bonneville era and all information that has been presented to help all of us keep our American cars on the road.!

LOL at that forum and great I did search for ethenol fuels in the forum and came up with with some great analysis but I guess I'm still stuck with running this stuff due to all or most gas stations are using it. Sad to say huh!

There'* nothing wrong with running a standard 10%-15% Ethanol blend in your Bonneville, but anything more than that could be trouble. Do not use E85 (85% Ethanol) in your tank, because your injectors, FPR, and PCM are not set up to fuel the motor correctly. You would be running lean, and other damages could result. Nobody is sure if E85 would be corrosive in our fuel systems, though it really doesn't matter because the car would most likely run horribly, if at all, on the stuff.

uhmm it seems I get better mileage with premium in other cars I have used and burn more with regular. But on my SSEI I can only run Premium Unleaded and nothing more due to the fact of the ECU. Also thanks for the spell check. Lets just hope that fuel goes back to where it was an not have to run Ethanol or at least some short of additive that will help out our cars that werent designed for Ethanol.
If you searched for "ethenol" you would not have gotten as many (if any hits) due to spelling. It'* spelled: ethanol. I have run 10% ethanol fuels (including premium in a Series I SSEi and a Series II SSEi) for more than ten years here in Iowa and have no complaints except I get a mile or two more per gallon with regular unleaded.
