1993 SSE runs rough under load. It seems to be missing intermitently. I changed the plugs & it has not improved. I did not change the wires...they were changed only 18 months ago.
Also ran some injector cleaner through the gas tank.
Any idea where I should start?
Thanks for the help!

Are the injectors difficult to take out & clean?
Also, I have been reading the forums quote a bit this morning & notice many Bonne owners mentione the
MAF sensor when discussing rough running Bonnies. Where is the Mass Air Flow sensor & what is the removal & cleaning technique?
Also, cound a bad coil cause my problem?
I also forgot to mention that I changed the fuel filter prior to the engine running rough.
Thanks again!
John

One more thing I failed to mention...gas mileage is horrible...less than 200 miles per tank!

Thanks jr3800. I used Autolite platinum plugs. I think the injector cleaner was the cheapo Wal-Mart store brand.
Where is the MAF sensor & the IAT sensor located? Can these be cleaned or must they be replaced?
As for the cat converter, I was told a few years ago that it is shot, as in it no longer functions, like it was blown out or something. Since then, the exhaust is a bit more noisy than before. But, the gas mileage was still ok when the cat was dignosed as "gone".
I plan on replacing the 02 sensor, which I don't believe has ever been replaced!
Any tips on taking the fuel injector out & recommended cleaning method?
Thanks,
John

Actually, I used to hear a rattle type sound under the car when running, but I'm not sure that sound still exists? I'll check when my Son returns with the car.

Ah.

Try having your son not drive the car; that might improve its gas mileage...

(Ducking and running for cover now... )

I think I'll vote for replacing the O2 sensor first (be sure to buy AC-Delco, not Bosch, and it'* easy to do it yourself with a couple of long extensions). Also check your tire pressures all around and get them up to 35 psi if they're not there already.
