Engine cranks and runs fine, no water in the oil, no weird smoke coming out of the tailpipe, however on the underside of the car is a pencil lead sized bead of water shooting out like a squirt gun.

Before issue happened car got ran very very hot, was ran super low on coolant and overheated enough to cut out.

After the overheating, replaced the water pump because it was leaking super bad, and then noticed the small bead of water. First thought was head gasket had blown, but have heard of people having issues with an intake gasket melting and didn't know if it might be that or not.

Mainly wondering if anyone else had seen that before, seems like most had problems with coolant getting into the engine with the other problems whereas there doesn't seem to be that here.

Not very knowledgeable about cars and most of what I've said here is what I've been told by some mechanic friends

Can you get a picture of the leak in progress?

What side of the car is it on? Left, right, front side of motor or back?

If its not smoking a little from the tail pipe, and it the oil isnt milky, and if its running as it should be minus the leak i would say probably the intake gaskets... however... it could go either way...

pictures would help, along with NA or SC motor, and has the motors gaskets ever been replaced before? 10 yrs is a good while on stock gaskets... either way you might want to replace the head gaskets and intake gaskets... but go with the metal intake gaskets if you do replace them

Sorry, its a 1998 SE. The engine is not the same one that came with the car, its a remanafactured engine that was put into it a bit back. I don't have a digital camera, just a cellphone, but I'll see what I can do for a picture soon as I get a chance.

Its my brother'* car and he can't seem to find the paperwork from when the engine was purchased/installed... so I'm not sure how to find out if its NA or SC, or even what those mean..... I did find a paper that said it was a L36 3.8L V6.

Turns out after checking with my brother it doesn't crank right now, he let it sit long enough that the battery completely died. So I won't be able to say for certainty where the leak is until I can get over there with a battery to crank it up. Its been long enough I don't remember much except the bead of water shooting out.

NA = Normally Aspirated
SC = Supercharged

The L36 is a normally aspirated motor.

I seem to remember the leak being on the passenger side of the car, very close to the firewall. About the size of a pencil lead.

I had the same water leak. Mine was leaking where the coolant hoses for the heater core go into the water pump. It was the rubber O-rings. They had gone bad. And the factory hose clamps where weak as well.

Check that area when you have it running because it will only leak under pressure.
