Default Valvoline Maxlife Transmission Fluid

Anyone use this? I am doing a fluid/filter swap in the near future and with 169k on the clock, maybe a good idea?

Travis..he'* replacing the fluid and filter. I thought Lucas only made an additive?

Greg..should work out for you. Any quality fluid that meets specs should be good.

Just for FYI, I am not having any sort of probs with the trans; I keep up on the service as best as I can.

What is so good about Lucas?

Thanks for the replies

I use the Valvoline Max-Life when I do mine. I alternate between flush, and dropping the pan and changing the filter every year. I put the Lucas Oil in time before last as a test. I can't say that I noticed any difference, good or bad. On trannies that were having problems, I haven't found it to be any help their either. All that being said, there are many who love it and swear by it.

I do the whole thing (filter and fluid) every time. I personally can't see running clean oil thru a dirty filter especially when I was in GA and it was so gosh darn hot outside.

Filter is almost a misnomer when it comes to the tranny filter. It'* more like a screen whose purpose is to keep larger chunks of debris from entering the tranny and doing damage. Also, when you drop the pan, you're getting a little over half of the transmission fluid out of it.

Your fluid choice is good, as is your plan to drop the pan, and change the fluid and filter. Whether to add the Lucas Oil is a personal choice.
