Default Security System problems

My wife took the car to work to-day and when it was time to leave, the car when started reved like hell ( T.P.* needs replacing ) She turned car off and tried starting again but nothing. All electrical seems to work, lights radio ETC. but no power to starter.
Security light stays on...My VATS was changed just over a year ago. I can't believe that I would have to change this system again It should be good for another 10 years. Luckily the car is stranded at a GM dealership. I will keep everybody posted on this

It revs like hell by itself???

Agree that VATS system has been triggered here; not sure that it has anything to do with the revving problem.

What exactly got changed a year ago? The most common problem in the older cars is a dirty or worn resistor chip on the ignition key, or dirty contacts within the key cylinder. Can you try a second key?

Security system is now no more, it is now disconnected never to be used again. This will avoid future headaches. The mechanic did his Bonnie the same way and the price was right.
T.P.*. was changed and engine idle is back to normal....transmission shifting better and even greater acceleration...
