:( Ive have had problems for about six months with my 96 se. I changed my starter cuz it wouldnt crank. Now it would crank, but it wont run more than a half a mile than it will die, sometimes starting back up sometimes it takes a while. Had fuel pump, fuel filter, and a vacum leak changed. Still problems. If anyone can help me figure this out would be greatly appreciated. Have a family to take care of and this car is starting to hinder my livelyhood. Thanks everyone

Welcome to Bonneville Club! Some possibilities include: bad battery cables, bad ground bus, bad ground for PCM, bad ground for ICM, bad Crank Position Sensor, bad Powertrain Control Module.

Insulation must be peeled or cut back on cable ends to see corrosion within. A very common problem. Ground bus is under the driver'* door kickplate near the front of the door, PCM ground is by the oil filter, ICM ground on a bolt under the coil packs, CPS under (behind) the crank pulley. Not sure when the PCM moved to the engine compartment, but in my '95 it is behind the passenger side hush panel (beside passenger'* right ankle).

PCM was under the hood of the 97, but there are fuses down there by behind that kick panel. Not that it will help you cp. Welcome, you've come to the right place to get help with a Bonneville!

I would definitely start out by cleaning your battery cables at all ends. Clean all four connections very well.

This is a very common problem on the Bonnevilles and the root of a lot erratic issues such as this.
