Default weird brake/engine prob

Ok, this one has got me totally stumped so thought I'd see if anyone here could offer some insight.

Basically the short and sweet of whats going on is that this morning, I went out cranked her up, no problems, good idle (a little higher than she would be after running for awhile, but thats not unusual for a cold start for me at least). So, I'm sitting there, its in park....I press the brake pedal down, the engine starts sputtering and almost dies and the service eng light goes on. As soon as I take my foot off the brake, goes back to running fine, eng light goes off. I do this about 4 more times and it gets better each time till it doesn't do anything and I can put it in drive and go on my merry way.

Now, I believe this brings into focus a problem that I thought was unrelated that sometimes when I'm coasting to stop light or braking and turning into a parking spot that it will sputter and the eng light will flash (but it never stays on). I thought that it may have been air filter/fuel filter/maf sensor/some tranny prob...but it never occured to me that it could having something to do with the brakes. But this morning, I was sitting there not even moving and it did it. Only once has it stalled compleatly, and that was in real slow stop/go traffic a couple of weeks ago.

So my question is, does anybody have an idea of what could be going on...because I just can't think of how pressing the brake while in park can stall out the engine.

Thanks so much for any help

its impossible to cause the engine to stall by pressing on the brakes.

Well, I'd better call Guinness then, because thats what almost happened to me this morning
That was litterally the only think I was doing, was pressing the brake... and that was causing the engine to sputter.

I swear...I always have the weirdest problems, it never seems to work out to be something typical
