Have you checked the fluid?
Low fluid will make it slip.

Not the type of news I like to give but If you ran the tranny for anytime low enough on fluid to cause it to slip, the damage has been done. Either way, the tranny is on its way out. Stay away from 4th gear and figure on replacing/rebuilding it.

it drives using D (but it has to warm up, like the car should be going for a couple minutes) but sometimes it slips when your stopped and try to start going, the best way to avoid the slipping is to go 1 - 2 - D. but once your going it drives like a dream.

I'd argree on the longshot. But save yourself some money by taking a piece of string or something simple with you. Measure the string to the length of yours and then you won't need to buy one if it'* the same length and hatches in the same area.
