Oh yeah when my car goes into lock up at 85 MPH it turns 2500 rpms while on cruise, I think thats very good!

My Maxima turns right around 3k at 85 mph if on cruise, so I think that the TCL is working ok and I do notice when it goes in and the rpms do drop down.

Default mpg

if you just bought the car do all the basics first like the air filter, plugs etc.
At lease pull it and check it out.

I changed the plugs on the car and it seemed to run what I felt and thought was right for about half a day, then back to the sometimes it runs good sometimes it don’t! At times it had good take off at others it has bad take off. I still haven’t changed my fuel filter yet (new one in the trunk) was a busy weekend for me as the OU game and we had a lot of things going at the airport thanks to that. I still have no codes what so ever, I am leaning towards the fact of it has to be the fuel filter/pump of maybe a partly clogged cat maybe, I checked to see how much exhaust is coming out and felt about right?

The car don’t always run bad, and it changes how and where it runs bad every time it does it, sometimes it when taking off, others it when you get to like 50-65 and others is on take off. I have noticed that once the temp gauge gets to the first line of barely afterwards that it seems to drive better, it almost got up to the half way mark the other day and it seemed to run the best it ever has at that time.

On my air compressor in my trunk now… I tried to air a friend’* tire up and she wouldn’t do it! I held my finger over the part that goes onto the valve stem and it built pressure up great. How does the struts and suspension on the car do the self leveling as I haven’t ever noticed it doing that and how can I do a quick check on it to test it also?

Thanks again for all the help

I agree with everyone here. I do not think you have a problem with your Fuel Pump. Just replace that fuel filter. And if your present O2 has more than 50K on it, I would replace it with a Delco Unit. That is the most common cause of low mpg. Also, if the ignition wires haven't been changed in awhile, you might want to look into replacing them as well. Couldn't hurt.
