My 88 SSE has sat outside without being touched for about 4 years....I'm starting to rebuild it now and all the door locks are completely seized. Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea how to fix them? I cant get into the car at all.

You may have to go in thru the trunk...

try releasal in your lock if not...get a slim jim and do it philly style ...cost about 25 bucks to open a door..once inside take your panels off and give them a good ole coat of love..and by that i mean oil

I got the back driver side door open by spraying the handle with wd40... now it wont close and latch.... This car is gonna be the death of me.

you really have to spray it well, and make sure your latch isnt stuck in the open position that will keep it open...after you sprayed wd 40 on it use some good grease on it to keep it lubed and open and shut the door a few times..

I hope anyone who has had this problem sees this, I know from experience it is very aggravating having had 3 of my doors do this on the same day. I took a knife or something long and thin and ran it down beteen the window molding until I felt the button and just started moving it around and pushing the outside button while I was doing it, they all finally opened up after doing this to all three. I then sprayed wd 40 on them and it has been 3 or 4 months and they still work, beats taking all the panel off lol. I luv my 91 bonneville. I also
have a 2001 Suzuki grand vitara and I would much rather drive the old bonneville. My stepdad has a 96 jeep cherokee, and afer I sell it he wants one just like mine. It is very easy on gas and a truly beautiful car. I just wish that old drivers side electic window worked better lol.

I had the exact same problem with my 91 Bonneville. When i first bought the car almost 2 years ago, the right rear door wouldnt open, a few months later, i noticed that the left rear door wouldnt open. I tried playing around with it, and it still wouldnt open. I took the car to my mechanic and he got it open, cost me about 50 bucks for it...So anyways, i havent been driving the car all too often now, and the front drivers side door wont open. I tried spraying wd-40 in there, and playing with the latch, and i cant get it to open, probably will have to go back to the mechanic.. If you do get your doors to open, make sure you keep them lubricated very good, or they will seize up again...

seems to happen to doors that don't get used alot because both the pass side doors were stuck shut. This was the 2nd time. Took me maybe an hour for the rear door. once I got that open I disconnected the locking latch and outer door handle rod-it can only be opened from the inside(won't lock even if I hit the lock button). The front pass. side took me a day and a half to get open!! I had to pull down the top half of the door panel then cut some of the inner door metal to get to anything--just so it would open. After I got it I pulled the mechanism off--it was pretty rusted! And a latch was bent(from me trying to open it). So I did the same as the rear door--pulled off all rods so it can only be opened from the inside! If you don't get new mechanisms it'* only going to get stuck again!!

I had door problems galore on my previous 1989 SSE. The problem is- once theose door latched sieze, the whole mechanism must be repalced. Happy to hear that you got into the car though. On your other doors- remove the door panels and plastic film, and now you should be looking at the inside guts of the door. put your hand inside the door and feel around for a triangular nub sticking out of the latch. spray the **** out of this piece with oil if it won't move. other tip, try locking and un-locking the door a bunch of times, this also frees up the latch. moving the triangular piece up will open the latch.
Once the door is open- the rest is straight forward. remove the three torks bolts in the frame of the door, un-do the metal arms attahed to the latch, and remove the old one. I suggest covering the new latch in wheel bearing greese. This will displace all the moisture and prevent future sieze-ups.
