I Got My Transmission Fluid Changed Today (Wednesday - May 14, 2003) & Cottman'* Transmission Found Extremely Fine Metal Around The Magnet. Is This Normal? I Now That It'* Wear And Tear. Drive'* Great, No Problems. Before The Fluid Got Changed The Car Started Great Too, But Now The Fluid Got Changed And The Car Is Hard To Start. What Happened? I Did Turn Up The Idle On The Engine, Then It Started O.K.. I Just Don't Want The Engine To Go Out Too. I Changed The Engine Last Year , Around Oct. 2002. Boy, What A Stressful Day This Has Been, I Feel Like Going Back To Bed And Wake Up And Everything Will Be Good Again, But This Is The Real World And Got To Face It!
Can Anyone HELP? RE PLY

The idle is controlled by the computer in the original engine, so you must have swapped in something other than what was designed for the car.

No, I Do Have the Original Engine (231 V6 3.8, Not The 3800 Series). When You First Start The Engine In The Morning, The RPM'* Go Up To 1.5 or 2 (Most Of The Time It Goes To 1.5) Then The Idle Slows Down To Normal About 1 On The RPM Dial. What My Problem Is, Is That Usually I Start It And It Rev'* Up To 1.5 or 2 RPM Then 1 or 2 Seconds Later It Goes Down Again. But Now It Doesnt Do That, Since It Got The Tranny Fluid Changed. ???

where is this idle screw you are using located? Next To And Above The Intake. A Bracket Covers It.

First of all the set screw is sealed from the factory and not intended to be adjusted in any manner at all.. The ECM adjusts the idle automaticly... Adjusting the set screw will result in almost nothing later as the ECM readjusts the idle.. You might need to clean the throttlebody if it has never been done.. This is usually why the 3.8'* and 3800 will have a hard time idling when the engine gets some miles on it... Carbon buildup behind the throttle plate not allowing the proper amount of air around the edges of the throttle plate.. Even if you make small adjustments to the idle screw the computer will correct for it..

Yes, Your Correct About The Computer Correcting The Idle. Don't Even Know Why They Even Have It On The Car.

Default probs

The problems you are having do should not be caused by your tranny. Changing your tranny fluid would not cause the problems you are having.

I suggest listening to jrs suggestion and clean your throttle body but dont use the wrong stuff because you don't want your MAF sensor to break.
