Don't pay him anything!!!! The cam sensor is pretty easy. It is located on the passanger side of the engine, below the water pump and just to the left of the crankshaft pulley. It is easy to identify because it has a wire running to it. To replace it pick up the part and look at it. There is only one bolt that holds it in. Just disconnect the plug, take the bolt out and put the new one in. You may have to do a little of the work by feel but its not hard and not worth the 350. Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

Cam sensor circuit problem would set a code 41. That said, the sensor rarely goes bad but the 3800 has a propensity to throw the magnet. See http://6007.us/cammag.htm

Padgett, I remembered seeing that on your website several months back and couldn't remember the address :P. I kept trying 7008.us and 7001.us.

Yeah, the $350 price was for the sensor, magnet, timing chain, and a few other seals, etc. Not a bad price, but I don't have it .

Am I going to be able to remove the timing belt and all that good stuff in my driveway?

I thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate everyone'* help.

I think I can do it. I hope so. I have no mechanical experience whatsoever, aside from changing oil and doing exhaust work, but I simply can't afford the $350 to have someone else do it right now.

I'll probably be back with questions. Thanks

I will try and take the car out, but i am a bit hesitant because if my foot is off the gas the car stalls. Also when I'm on the gas the engine sounds kind of rough.

No, I took it off before I started to clean the parts. But wouldn't a bad MAF also throw a code? Anyother areas to look at that might be causing the rough idle and urge to die?

I replaced the TPS because I got a code 22. I have not calibrated it yet, I'm waiting on an electral tester. But I thought that a TPS would not cause much of a problem at idle and would just give less than ideal performance. On the IAC valve i cleaned it off and gave it a small push to see if it would mover, but nothing dramatic. The bore and area are all clean.

I started the car and took it out for a quick spin as suggested in another post. The car ran and got me where i needed to go and back home but the idle was real bad and the car sounded like it had a huge cam in it. After getting it started and letting it run a bit it wouldn't kill itself but the idle was still bad.

I wonldn't quite say 'fine" but it runs. When I'm on the gas it smooths out a bit but has quite a rumble and sounds like a very aggressive cam is in it. Also the car sounds completly different than before, much more throaty. When I drove the car it wasn't anywhere close to normal, hesitation and the afore mentioned problem. By the way, thanks for all your help with my problems, it is very much appreciated!!
