Default Power window off track

I have a 1990 bonneville and the power window has gone offtrack. It is completely down and when I go to roll it up now the window stays down and there is this metal thing that comes up on the side and since the window isn't on its track it pushes the window to the side.

How do I go about getting it back on the track? Do I have to pull the door apart?

Yes, the door panel must come off. On the 97 I put the motor about 6 inches down and I could see the two nuts that held the window to that metal piece you see. If you put the regulator down all the way and then lift the window up almost all the way you should then be able to put it back together. I'd bet the nuts are in the bottom of the door. Odd that it came loose like that though.

i had to drive my mother to work and she was complaining that the wind was in her hair. I go to put it up with the buttons on the drivers side and she decided to use "common sense" and push down on the passenger side button to make it go "up."

i think that is what caused it to mess up.

how long did it take you to take the door paneling off of your car?

does anyone have any advice or tips for doing this?

my window is the same way. There is a little plastic piece that goes around a metal ball on the regulator, and the plastic piece goes inside of the window rail, alows for up and down motion while giving a little side to side motion as well. Just like mine, the plastic piece probably broke. Sadly the whole regulator is like 200 bucks from GM, you cant just get the piece.

To take off the door panel. Simply pull out every bolt and clip in the door, then there should be pop rivets along the bottom and the side of the door. If the panel doesn't pop off, you missed one. I've taken mine off soooo many times, and I have the same gen as you.
