Well, closed the trunk like normal last night, and spring! Opened it, and the trunkspring was broken at the end where it attaches to the lid hinge.
So, went to the junkyard to see if i could get another spring. Yikes, its difficult. How do I get to the assembly bolts, and how many??
I suspect corrosion played a factor in the decay of the springs. The passenger side wheel well had some real bad rot that made some nice holes, which definitly could have corroded the spring bad. Would not be suprised if the other side goes, but it prolly won't happen. The rot was repaired in that wheel well fefore it formed the holes. Yikes, this car is rusty.
Well, thanks. Love the trunk design of these cars. The hinge is well designed and stays out of the way. Very nice for putting thingsin the trunk.

I took the springs out of the hinges. I was freezing in the yard, and they were closing soon, so I unbolted the spring.
Ok, got another question.
Seems they used different designs???? Seems the car I got it from, its an 89 LeSabre or something, it has a beefier and shorter spring???
I was able to get it on, wasn't hard, but now its a little hard to close, and the lid springs right up soon as I turn the key. (Sighs)
Perhaps I can modify a few things here and there, or just see if I can get a new spring from the dealer? The proper one..
