Default Ride control compressor bad?

:?: Hi Gang,

New to the group but been lurking for a while, checking all the info. I have a 1988 SSE that I have owned since new in late 87. It’* been a great car except for a few quirks. My ride control compressor stopped working the other day. When I pressed the button for the inflator in the trunk, I would hear the relay click (near back seat in trunk) but the compressor wouldn’t kick on. I went to a salvage yard and all they had was one from a Cadillac, but the pump was the same. It didn’t work and I can take it back for a refund. I was wondering if there was anything else that would cause the pump to not work. Fuse is fine and relay in trunk is fine.

Thanks!

You can check for power and ground right at the connector. Check both sides of the connector so you can rule out a bad connector.

opensourceguy has a detailed wiring diagram that might have the correct wire colors. When he and I were working together to resolve other electricial problems, I noticed the wire colors on my 90 were different from his 89.

You might want to send him a PM. He'* a very helpfull member.

Default pump

Could be a relay gone bad if you check for 12v at the connector and there is no voltage.
