Default plug

Most recommend TR 55'* NGK although I've never used them nor could vouch for them.
Tell you what worked excellent in my moms 88 Park.
Champion RS14YC6. Its a standard plug with a hotter heat range. Car starts like a dream now.
You could go the Platinum route and there are many plugs that will do the job well.
Notice my sig has Bosch. Don't mention that word around hear or you'll get a mouthful.
Again plugs are a matter of personal preference and performance desired.
In the Park Ave the standard Delco'* and Mag. Ignition were not doing the job for short trips.
They were running too cold and not burning off the carbon deposits causing a hard start in the morning.
Also converting to the Type II ignition will work wonders for your car.

I ran the TR55s for a spell, but they were crap for me. Got delcos.. the part number is in my sig. they are the plugs the car came with from the factory, btw. Damn good plugs, IMO.

Personally I would stick with the stock Delco Plugs. A new battery couldn't hurt along with 5W-30 motor oil. A heated garage would be nice, but I think my medication is wearing off.

Accel coils? Toss them in the trash. Even if they're new. Or return them if you can. Every Accel coil on this Forum has failed early. They suck.

Go steal the Type 2 ignition off of any 93-05 GM V6 and adapt it to yours to get rid of the Magnavox single-coil design. The Delco is more reliable and provides a hotter spark.

Yep, just get the coils and ICM from a newer 3800. It'* a solid setup...you're not going to gain anything by going aftermarket. After I did the swap, plugs, and wires I had a potent ignition and still do. It will fire up at -25C with ease, whereas before it would have problems at 0 C.

I went with the "normal" AC-Delco plug gapped at 0.060". Works perfect.

Yup. We've got at least a dozen that did the swap. A little better power in the midrange rpm'* and alot smoother idle and easier starts.

Global Priority Mail is $23 to Norway. Coil and ICM from a junkyard is about $30.
