While greasing my rear during an oil change on my 90 SSE I noticed the drivers side tierod end boot is split wide open.
Does anyone know where I could get a boot / grease seal and is it changeable or do I wait until the whole joint goes bad?

Energy suspension sells a set, they're at autozone. Work quite nicely and have a very positive grip.

Of course the stock set should also be alailable at autozone.

The boot is a seperate unit. if you don't fix it the rod end will go bad quicker. the damage may have already been done. It'* up to you, as you must replace the boot when you replace the rod end.

Several companies (think Fel-Pro is one) make replacement boots. They are split and clamp together so that the boot can be replaced without removing everything.

I have never needed one but if did I would clean and regrease everything before installing the boot.

Hopfully the joint didn't wear out yet. The back doesn't work that hard.
Interesting I just left auto zone and they said they don't carry it.
Do you know the part #?
I don't care for the split boot because like CV joints they most allways leak and
let contaminents in.

Went back to Auto Zone and found the Energy suspension 2 pack brite red boots
with 1/2 in hole. They look awsome and were only $3.79.
I will put one on as soon as it stops raining.

Yep, I've got them on the front end of mine from when I changed out my rods, They sure do make it look nicer under there.

so I guess the same 1/2 in. boot fits the front and back?

Replaced both rear tierod boots this week.
Red polyurathane looks awsome.
Hardest part of the job was removing the dang cotter pins.
I finally figured out I could take a corner of my chisle and snip off each end and loosen
the nut. Then chase out the hole with a sharp drill.
First one took an hour, 2nd one 15 min. because of farting with the cotter pin that was in there for 14 years.
