So, are the 3800'* rev-happy on the highways?
As my topic said. Rev-happy 3800? I certainly don't rev it in idle, but I tell you, it sure is fun to be a leadfoot on the highways, doing 0-60 or 100(CDN).
Man, i tell you, Ilove to floor the throttle. I love the way that engine sings to its 5500 RPM redline (briefly). It feels like a rev-happy motor, but I know it isn't in idle.
I do this ALOT. Mostly only in the summer. In winter, i'd be very likely to get my butt in the ditch. There isn't a time when I don't do it. and I tell you, it sounds and feels sweet.
OF course, is this abuse? I don't let it go to 5500. Only 4800-5000 rpm, and I run Mobil one synthetic in the crank. The engine has 150,000 kms now, and the Tranny and car have 271,000 kms on it now.
So, is this generally a good idea? I know, not for a prolonged period of time. I do sometimes get it to 3500 RPM going uphills for a short period of time, till I get it up the hill, but it stays in third. I just love doing it, addrenaline rush!!
Anyways, goodnight all..

Usually, I ease up on the throttle, like a standard, to allow the transmission to downshift, less wear on the tranny.
Thing works like a top. Of course, i'd like more passing power on the highway, but I can live with this for now. I just don't want to potentially have another thrown rod, just because I like to go for a joy-ride once in a while.
Of course, that'd give me more reason to swap a caddy V8, or a L67 motor in it, haha.

I absolutely romped on my LN3 for 25,000kms...it'* at 230,000km'* now. Not a single hiccup from the drivetrain. Still runs perfect.
I'm not saying you should do this, but it is one tough engine.

If you mash your foot to the floor they are rev happy... The trans is also not electronic so there will be no forced shift by the ECM... I have ran in through the red in the past... Not good...lol
You should see my 40 mph foot to the floor downshift... Almost right to the red then you hit second gear
