Hi..This may be a silly topic for me to inquire but I just wanted to know who had the similar experience as I had and how they dealt with it...I know I will get my mine fixed
at the service garage...

All my doors on my '89 Bonneville SSE won't open anymore, the central locking
when I unlock it with the key unlocks it...but the door won't open it'* completely locked
and when you press on the button and pull the door handle it won't open at all
and this goes for all the doors and the button all feels the same when you press it
it'* soft and doesn't feel that it'* connecting to the door mechanism inside to make it open.
I believe it'* all in the internal mechanism of the door and my car is now left at the parking lot a work...I will get it checked by the automobile association for emergency
assistance to get it open or maybe towed to the service garage.

ALL four doors frozen? I don't know if it'* that cold in Edmonton :P

Happened to me in Illinois after a carwash. Water got into the locks, froze and wouldn't unlock.

Alberta eh? Where abouts? I'm in Edmonton!
As to your problem.....Condensation could freeze up your electronics from the car wash. Here'* a TSB that may help too though.

CONDITION: SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON INOPERATIVE POWER DOOR LOCKS (FRONT AND/OR REAR DOORS). DOOR LOCKS WILL STILL OPERATE MANUALLY.

CAUSE: CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY RIPPING OF THE EXTERNAL BUMPER WHICH ALLOWS THE ACTUATOR ARM TO DISENGAGE.

CORRECTION: REPLACE EXTERNAL BUMPER ON ACTUATOR ARM.

IMPORTANT: ON AURORA AND RIVERIA FRONT DOOR LATCHES WITH THEFT DETERRENT, THE LOCK ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. DO NOT USE THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

1. REMOVE THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY. REFER TO SECTION 10 IN THE SERVICE MANUAL.

2. SEPARATE THE ACTUATOR FROM THE LATCH ASSEMBLY BY REMOVING TWO SCREWS.

3. REPLACE EXTERNAL BUMPER ON ACTUATOR ARM WITH NEW BUMPER SUPPLIED IN SERVICE KIT. {88948572 Door Actuator Bumper Kit (Grp#10587) Pontiac Bonneville Service Kit}

IMPORTANT: THE OLD STYLE BUMPER IS NEUTRAL OR WHITE IN COLOUR AND SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A NEW BLACK BUMPER. DO NOT ADD ANY LUBRICANT TO THE BUMPER OR BUMPER AREA.

4. INSTALL THE ACTUATOR TO THE LATCH ASSEMBLY.

IMPORTANT: ENSURE THAT THE LOCK SWITCH TEETH ARE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TOWARDS THE ACTUATOR ARM AND THE LATCH IS IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION.

5. REPLACE LOCK ROD CLIPS SUPPLIED IN KIT.

6. REINSTALL LOCK ACTUATOR.

7. INSURE PROPER OPERATION OF LOCKS.


POWER DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM (DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR) #90-10-26 - (03/21/1990)
Models Affected: 1989-90 BONNEVILLE MODELS

CONDITION:

Power Door Lock will not lock or unlock the latch, but manual operation is normal.

CAUSE:

Under certain build tolerance conditions, the bellcrank assembly cannot move the inside locking rod far enough to trip the latch. (View A, Diagram I; View B, Diagram II)

DIAGNOSIS:

Verify that the system functions properly in the manual mode.

CORRECTION:

Remove the trim pad and verify that all rod attachments are secure and that all locking system components are properly installed.

Operate the system manually and verify that there are no binds in the locking system.

Operate the power actuator and determine if the bellcrank is moving the locking rod far enough to trip the latch in either the locking or unlocking direction. (Diagram I and II)

If system will not lock, install Clip Part Number 25527289 and Rivet Part Number 15646304 to front of slot opening in bellcrank. (See Diagram III)

If system will not unlock, install Clip Part Number 25527289 and Rivet Part Number 15646304 to rear of slot opening in bellcrank. (See Diaqram IV)

REPAIR:

Install Clip Part Number 25527289 and Rivet Part Number 15646304 as illustrated in Diagram III (system will not lock) or Diagram IV (system will not unlock).

I had that happen on my '89 Olds Touring Sedan. My father in law had the same car and the same problem. The only place that he found that knew what he was talking about and how to fix it was a Cadillac dealership. It turns out that this had been a problem with Caddys with power locks for years. I think it had something to do with an interlock with the power locks and a seatbelt sensor in the seat. Find a Cadillac dealership and ask for the oldest mechanic that works there and explain the problem.

Sometimes front passenger side door doesnt open, all I have to do is bang on the thing when its locked, unlock it and it opens fine, something doesnt jump back into position sometimes...

I had my rear doors both stay locked and it was cause they were getting seized ( mechanism in the door). I took it apart after soem creative door panel removal and feeling my way in the door to open it.

but if they all stopped working then I guess freezing. My rear doors still stay stuck sometimes and that is if they are locked and you try to push the button to open from the outside, so they are still sticking a bit but getting beter with use.

It is nothing electrical, it is an ongoing problem with my car too, on my 2 back doors. The inner buttons rust or get stuck. I put a long thin knife between the outside part of the door
and adjusted it till I felt the doorlock and pushed on it and pushed in on the button till it released. This is the easiest way to do it, it only works awhile but it does work. If you open the doors every day and occassionally spray the button with wd40 it will open for a good long time. Let me know if this works.

I've had the same problem with my two rear doors on my '91 SSE, and have tried to fix the problem. I took the rear driver'* side door apart and fixed that one, except the other door will just not open at all. I tried to work the inside and outside and nothing works. How in the world am i supposed to get this door open? It'* the only one left that doesnt work.
