Default Radiator woes...

Ok, my temp gauge was maxing out, so I checked out everything, and found small leak in the radiator. Now, I bought the radiator from this really co0l guy, who showed me how to install it and everything for free, but that was only like a year and 8 months ago, which seemed way to0 premature. So I went over and showed him, and he agreed to swap it out for a new one YaY! but then he said the problem lo0ked like it was caused by electrolosis?!? Is this something that commonly happens? He said that a HOT wire might be touching the transmission lines and sending voltage through them, or I might have a bad ground somewhere. I am going to check all that out today, but if anyone has any advice or help that they could give me it would be much appreciated.
