cams
I am not sure where to put this, so I thought this was the safest bet. I need to know if the cams for the '88 and the '91 SSE are the same. I've been to a couple of parts sites and the part #'* are different. Does that tell me all I need to know? I'm getting info together to give to Colt Cams in Canada.

Colt Cams(thank you Drunken Sailor) called me back and I am now searching for a good used cam to send him. It is probably going to be late January before I can afford it, but it was so cool to find this guy. Thanks again BC!!!

dirtracr95, you got my curiosity up. I called my uncle to find out where to look for any specific engine info. I found the sticker on the front of the engine compartment and I think I have a rare LG3! This is how the sticker reads
JCD
3.8 liter
J2G3, 8V8XEBO
JBO-2D
Now, if I am correct and I do have the LG3 what does that mean for my cam grind? Do I need to find another LG3 cam or can I use the LN3 also?

Look at your Vin Number...
1G2HY54C Or 1G2HY543 ?
What you posted is engine family
The Bonnevilles did not use the L27 Tuned Port until 1992
in 1991 The Bonneville still used the LN3, But the Block had all of the same updates as the L27

LG3'* arent that rare there are like 4 sitting at my junkyard even though they were only used between 86-87 and some of the 88 cars. Maybe in a bonneville they are rare but i dont know the production #*

There were a lot of LG3'* Vin 3'* used from 86-88... But as the years go by they are getting to be in shorter supply..
But you should still find a couple in most yards...
