Hi, i am noticing that when i dont drive my 91 Bonneville LE for a few days ,the battery becomes discharged so that it wont start unless with a jump. I have been disconnecting the positive side every time i turn off the car as a temporary fix. Anyways, i notice that when i connect the battery up to the car, u hear the door locks making noices, and functioning, so i am wondering if that is what is draining down the battery when the car isnt running. So if i could pull out the fuse for the door locks, maybe this would help. Im only using this car for the winter, so i dont mind if the power door locks arent working. How do i pull out the fuse(*) for the power door locks? where are they located? thanks for the help....

Well on my 90 SSE there is a panel under the steering wheel that is under a cover, ( easy to get off). On my cover it shows wich ones are for the power door locks and it is a circuit breaker ( looks like a fuse but bigger and silver and metal). But mine also operated other things also, I think it was connected to the rear defrost and power seats too.

Not sure how different yours would be.

Looks like the regulars arent going to jump in on this one..... i doubt that your battery is being drained by the "clicking" noise heard when the battery is reconnected. I think that noise is related to the seat belt system. Anyways, if you want to track down the source of your parasitic drain, ya need to do what has been commonly practiced here to track down paracitic drains. First check to see if your battery needs maintainence, ie if it needs water. The cell nearest the motor needs to be refilled every now and then because heat from the engine causes some of the water to evaporate. Once your battery has its water refilled, it will hold a better charge. If you have a "maintanence free" batttery ignore what i just said. How old is your battery? Sometimes individual cells will go bad, making the battery useless.

Next get ahold of a amp meter, if you dont know how to use one, find a buddy who does. Then to give you an idea of how much current is being drawn, disconnect your battery and put the meter between the battery and one of the cables. This will tell you how much total is being drained. Next reconnect the battery and go to your fuse panel, make sure you have any loads turned off, ie closed doors and closed trunk etc. Pull out a fuse and put the two leads of the meter where the teeth of the fuse once were, if any current is being drawn, your meter will show it. This will probably be a tedious process so be patient.

A little heads up: i measured from my battery how much current was being drawn when the car was locked up in my drive way with my alarm system armed, it drew about 28 mA, which is no sweat for a battery that size.
