Cam sensor or weak magnet
Have a code 41 and verified magnet is in place. Just wondering if anyone has actually had a bad sensor. I have had the magnet fall off twice on my 91 Regal, but I have never had a bad sensor. What is the reputation on these?
My car has 117,000 miles on it and it looks like the original sensor.

This past weekend Ifinally investigated this code 41. I replaced the sensor and still had the code. I pulled out the FSM and followed the troubleshooting it recommended and it pointed to the ignition module. When I went to look at removing it i found the problem.
The idiots that changed the alternator for me had pulled on the wiring harness and broke the little clip holding the harness in place. When they put the harness back it was pushed out and the drive belt rubbed on it.
Luckily that was the only wire that was cut, but others were bared. I ended up splicing the cam sensor wire and wrapping the others with tape. Ended up using a wire tie to hold the harness in place.
I am glad it did not short out the ecm or ignition module.
Once again I owe a thanks to the person who sent me a copy of the fsm. I don't remember who it was, but thanks.

If anyone else wants a copy of the fsm for the 1990 sent me a MAILING address by pm. I use it for my 89 and haven't found much difference. I would like to have a list together by wednesday.

A little late on getting them out. Last chance for anyone else. I have a list of those who already sent me a mailing address.
Reminder, this is for a copy of the 1990 fsm scanned to a disc. Will work for most of the 87-91 years.
