Security
i have a question about the so called security system in the 87-91 bonnevilles, according to the owners manual, the car has a factory security system with a warning light that flashes when the doors are unlocked and stays solid when they are locked, meaning the system is armed, and if a door or something with a sensor is opened, the horn will sound, etc etc etc.... well mine dont do that... the light works and all but nothing else, not even a burp from the car, is there some kind of module that controls this or is it just a dummy system, with one of those idoit lights :?:

You are seeing the proper operation at the light? Flash vs no flash? I am sure it'* a real system and some part of your is merely not working properly.
the experts w/manuals will chime in soon.

Try opening one of the front doors (passenger works best for me) and press the power lock button. Wait for the Security light to go solid, but keep the door open. The alarm should go off...at least it does for me. For some reason my driver side door doesnt make the security light go solid when I press the lock, but any other door will. Don't know why...

open all the windows in the car.
open the drivers door. (security light should start flashing)
Press Lock (Security light should glow solid)
Close door (security light should stay on for a few second then go out, and you should hear a slight sound of the locks double checking themselves) if the light doesnt go out there is still something open. it could be the latch sensor on the trunk or the hood being faulty. i have seen several of the trunk latchs fail.
wait a few seconds
reach in teh door and manually unlock the door and open it (if that doesnt set it off, try it on all the doors
