Default Odd no-start issue

Well, I'm trying to get the 89 going so I can decide what do to with it. It hasn't been moved since April/06 and hasn't been started since September/06.

I jumpered it to my '96. All the electronics in the '89 came on when I turned the ignition to the "ON" position. I went to crank it over, and it turned over MAYBE once or twice (enough to move the ACC. belt visibly) then it clicked repeatedly. Once I let off the RUN position it made a screech/grinding sound. I tried 3 more times with the same result, except on the 3rd attempt I lost all my electronics and it was just dead. I tried repositioning the cables and nothing would come on.

Starter was replaced maybe a week before it was parked. Why won't it start and why won't my electronics come on now? It looks like she might be a lost cause now....

Instead of jumping try installing the battery from the 96.
