Hey Bonnie fans....

I became a pround owner of a 1989 Bonneville SE last June and I must say, I'm very impressed. Mine came with power everything...(window motor getting a little slow...the girles call it "stately"). 16" steel rims, Brand new BF Goodrich Radial T/A'*...performance exhaust....(in construction).

165 HP...3.8L V6 Series 1...170,000km (105,000 miles for my American friends) does it get any better?...well maybe in a Series 2 Supercharged.... (I want one...94 SSEi would do just nicely .)

Proud to announce: New stainless steel exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. Still have to upgrade to the Hydroflow dual tips and muffler...Amen to my exhaust guys...They know a great factory installed performance exhaust when they see one. Can't wait to upgrade the rest of the system... :P come and get me! you little boyz in your Civics (ever notice that the cops never suspect a Bonneville?), good thing the cops here drive only Crown Vics and Impalas..they don't know what they are missing...

Few problems that I'm looking to fix up and any input would be helpful..

1. The front interior defrost grille: The screw housing has snapped off. When its cold out side the vinyl dashes contracts and the grille likes to pop out...grrrr...just have to wait until it heats up inside then push it back into place.

2. The check engine light....stays on....must be a gauge or sensor problem

3. 2 small rust spots, one on the driver side front door and rear driver side wheel well.

4. Condensate on the inside roof of the trunk....must be a seal problem

Good news...next spring full intentions of repairing body work and re-painting to original factory color. Just got a new Sony CDX-L600X Xplod deck....I hope the AC Delco speakers will hold up...for now....

WIll post pics of Bonnie1 soon....

Glad to be a new member at Bonneville Club!!

Welcome to the club! It sounds like you know what you are doing and where you are going. I know that some 87-91 owners are going to be very interested in your exhaust!

Do you know how to retrieve the engine trouble codes? Give us the code and we can figure out your "check engine" light.

To answer your question about Engine Trouble Codes...no I don't however I will look into this item.

I gather something would be in the Owners Manual? If not then I will search on the web or in this forum for background information.

Any insights that you may have would be greatly appreciated

(Thought I'd get this in....I checked the TECHINFO section and keyworded Trouble Codes, instructions on what to do came up. I intend to follow through and see what happens...hopefully it will help and that damn light will shut off. Then I can take the tape off...I know, I know, its gheto to do that...but it was a temporary solution )

Thanx
