The roof on my 1991 bonneville SSE is leaking, and has been for about a week. There are no holes in the roof or anything, and all of the trim looks pretty tight and secure. There are no holes in the roof or anything, and all of the windows/doors/sun roof were closed. Now, it leaks from right above the drivers side sun visor, on the left hand side of it. Its really really annoying, as it leaks down onto the seat and the floor, and soaks that whole part of the car. I have dried it out, and tried manually tightening the sunroof, but it still leaks. Also, when I start going uphill right after I start the car, a loud and deep sounding gurgle comes from somewhere, I cannot tell where. It only does this when its raining, so I assume water is somehow getting into the car somewhere? Anyways, if anyone has had this happen to them or has any ideas of what it could be/how to stop it, I would be VERY VERY Grateful!

dry the car out again...use a hose to get it wet this time so you can tell where it is coming from... i found 5 leaks in my car this way. make sure your sunroof drain lines arent plugged

Hi Steilhand and Welcome to The Bonneville Club. There are a few members that had this same problem and they will probably chime in here later. You will probably have to take down your headliner in the front and you might find that either a drain tube is disconnected from the sun roofs drain line or, as harofreak00 said, the line might be plugged up.

Open your sunroof. Do you see two small drain holes from the top in the front corners? These are for the wet stuff

They drain into the A-pillars, and should have tubing connected. The holes can plug up, causing rain to leak in from the sunroof, or the tubes can become disconnected, and dump rain down your a-pillars.

Pull your A-pillar trim, run a small wire through them to make sure they're clear, and make sure the path up to the roof is unplugged, too. Then put it all back together.

We had the same thing happen on the passenger side of our '90. It turned out the windshield was not sealed properly to the car which was only evident when the windshield trim was removed. Of course this happened fourteen years ago so the details are a little sketchy. The leak was right at the leading edge of the sun visor.

The same thing is happening to my 90 SSE. The windshield was replaced to pass the safety, but the guy didnt peel off the old glue so it doesnt seal worth a crap. Water started dripping in when I went through the car wash :O Also the sunroof tubes arent connected or theyre plugged. The entire roof of my car gets soaked whenever it gets wet. Maybe you should get your windshield reinstalled.

I actually had my windshield start to leak on my truck when I still had it ( maybe those 2-15" subs had something to do with it), and basically had soapy water on the outside of the windshield seal and used a blow gun to see if it made bubbles. Found the leaky spot pretty quickly, I think there may have been 2 spots come to thing of it.
