88 SSE Steering wheel question
Hi guys. just a quick question.... How do you remove the center hub of the steering wheel on a 1988 Bonneville SSE?
The wheel center can be levered off with a screwdriver so it is loose but I can't figure out how it actually comes off. There seems to be something in the centre of it holding it in place but I can't see what it is or work out what I am supposed to do with it.
:?
Thanks.

Problem is, I'm not sure what piece I'm having trouble with. :? There is something behind the steering wheel center right in the middle holding it in place. Problem is I can't see what it is. I've prised it off all the way round the outside but there'* something in the middle that'* still holding it in place.
Not knowing what it is I don't want to be too forceful incase I break something.

Ok..once you remove the button grouping from the center, you should see a large nut. Once that is removed..then a puller is sometimes required as the splines are a press fit.

It'* the centre piece with all the buttons on it that I can't get off. So I can't see the big nut.
How is the panel with all the buttons on held on?

Pry out control button assembly with thin bladed screwdriver along top edge of assembly

OK - I got off my lazy butt & looked at our 89 SE. No screws (Chilton'* manual showed them). I used 2 small screwdrivers & pried it off from the top. Took about 5 seconds.
