Default 89 Harmonic Balancer

Okey dokey, finally was able to apply enough torque to the bolt (28mm socket, 3/4 in. breaker bar,two guys on the end of a 8ft bar) to remove the balancer. However, it would appear that the engine oil cooler adapter bracket is interferring with removal. I have the FSM and it says nothing about removing the adapter, is it necessary or am I missing something simple. (hopefully) Thanks, Richard

If you have the bolt off, the pulley should slide right off. Sometimes they need to be persuaded with a rubber mallet. I'm not familiar with the oil cooler adapter. If it is to the right of the pulley, chances are it will need to come off.

Got it. Four bolts to remove and the adaptor drops far enough to get the balancer off. No need to undo the cooler lines(thank god). Also if you have the large bolt(28mm) it is better to use an 1 1/8" socket. Richard
