1988 Bonneville
Sirs,
I'm having a problem with my front driverside window. It partially works. It will go up and down to a point and then stop. When it stops moving the window drive motor runs but the window will not move any longer. I went inside to try to take a look around but it'* tight as hell in there and can't see anything. So i used my hands to feel around and the only thing I noticed was that on the end of the belt the holes seemed a worn. I'm thinking that the gear can't catch this part of the belt and is slipping out of the holes. Am I correct in this? If so, how do I go about replacing or repairing the belt?

If the motor is still turning it'* likely either the clip for the track is broken or the chain is stripped. Most likely the later. You have to pull the door panel off and check them.

If the motor is running I would rule out a bad motor.
You will have to pull off the interior trim panel to find out what it is.
There is a rod that sometimes becomes unsnapped out of its plastic ball socket at the base of the glass mount.
If its not that the plastic track you mentioned could need replacing. (dealer item).

Are you looking for help as in "Instructions" for how to do the repair? Can you be more specific as to what it is we can help you with?
BTW, That car looks really clean in the picture! I don't recall ever seeing that brown before. It looks rich.
Also, could you put your location in your avatar and your year and model trim level info in your signature? I'm sure we're going to want to see more pictures of that beauty.

If the belt is stripping, you have to remove the whole belt/motor (window lift) assembly from the inner door. To do that, disconnect the two electrical connectors and drill out the rivets holding the track support in the door. The assembly is pulled through one of the access holes in the lower / inner door panel. From there, you can drill out the rivets securing the motor to the track assembly. Replace the track, and reinstall with machine screws and nylok nuts - #8 or #10 whichever fits. Same with remounting inside the door.
