Transmission cooler and lines
The hard lines that go into my factory cooler in the radiator have rusted through and I figure that now might be a good time to install a second cooler.
Does anyone have the part numbers for the lines to get? I believe that the factory lines were the same for all cars that came with an auxiliary trans cooler from the factory. How do I connect those lines to an aftermarket cooler? Rubber hose and clamps?
What size cooler will fit? I'm in NJ, so I'm not planning on getting the biggest one.

Are you going to run the Raidiator Trans cooler in tandem with the AUX cooler?

Yes, that'* the plan.
I'm debating between going the junkyard route with a factory aux cooler or getting something aftermarket with new factory lines.

If you can find a good cooler on the 92-95 Supercharged, and some of the older caddies... You could flush and use that cooler... But you will need at the least replace the top line and get a U bend for the top port.... Ihave part numbers for the Tranny lines someplace as I have adapted both of my cars to the AUX cooler... Florida heats takes its tool...lol

Both of my lines are getting replaced no matter what as they have literally rusted through right by the A/C compressor and they're not much better off closer to the transmission.
So, that'* why I'd like to swap over to either an aux cooler with factory HD cooling lines or a junkyard setup with either junkyard lines or new lines.
How did you hook up the aux cooler to the factory lines?

I replaced the Upper line with a line for a 92 with the Trans cooler, Bit of a diffrent line... And I got the U bend for the top port of the radiator as well and plumbed into the Aux Cooler...
I have a few pics someplace... Not great but it may give you an idea..
And that sucker is in there really tight too...

That'* right along the same lines that I did.
I got an old Caddy one and it'll bolt right up to the center rad support, then the u bend Jr'* mentions.. poof.. all set.
Even built a little cooler flushing pump out of an old washer bottle, a washer pump and some tubing.

So, if I decide to go with new lines and an aux aftermarket cooler, I have to get an OEM line for my '91 Olds from the bottom of the radiator to the transmission. Then, I have to get the u-bend and the line from the transmission to the aux cooler from any car with HD cooling such as a '92 car.
Are those hard lines flared where the rubber hoses attach?
Bill, how does one of those factory coolers hook up to those hard lines?

I picked up a cooler, the u-bend, and the hard line going from the cooler to the trans from a '92 Caddy at the junkyard. I still need to get the one line from the radiator to the trans and since one of the lines coming off the trans is still original and rusted, I might as well change that too for peace of mind.

I did the work this weekend. The most time consuming part was taking off the header panel and everything attached to it in order to have easy access to mount the new cooler. I had to make some bending adjustments to the one line that I got off the Caddy, but it all came together nicely in the end.
Now, I have extra peace of mind for my freshly rebuilt trans and no more rusted cooler lines.
