1987
Bonneville, Bonneville LE
No Supercharged models offered.

First year of the new GM “H” body. Clean, straight body lines, with an optional
rear deck spoiler. The LE model had extra body trim.

The only engine offered in 1987 (both models) was the
3.8 HO V6 Vin#3, rated at 150 hp @ 4400rpms, and
210ftlb @ 2800rpms. The GM engine code is (LG3).

1988
Bonneville LE, SE, SSE
No Supercharged models offered

For 1988, the body stayed the same, however, the base model of Bonneville
was replaced by the LE, and the SE and SSE levels of trim were added.

2 Engines were offered in 1988. Beats the hell out
of me which went into which models, but I’ll bet the
LN3 came out late in the model year and was carried
over to 1989. Am I right about this? These engines were:

3.8 HO V6 Vin#3 150 Hp @ 4400rpms 210ftlbs @ 2800rpms (LG3)
3.8 (3800) Vin#C 165 Hp @ 4400rpms 220ftlbs @ 2800rpms (LN3)
The LN3 engine became the first to be known as the “3800”

1989, 1990, 1991
Bonneville LE, SE, SSE
No Supercharged models offered

For 1989-91, the body stayed the same, and the LE, SE, and SSE were the 3 levels
of trim available.

For 1989-91, only one engine was offered:
3.8 (3800) Vin#C 165 Hp @ 4400rpms 220ftlbs @ 2800rpms (LN3)
This engine was a direct carryover from 1988.

Ok, guys, did I misstate anything? Correct me if I have anything wrong. Trannies, exhaust, options, etc, I'll verify thru you later.

And I thought I only had 150HP!!
Anyone ever wonder : what if these cars were offered in a manual ??
They would be even faster, but then again, this is a "family sedan".

Now that you mention manual, my friend and I might try to make a L67 into a manual tranny, we were thinking about it the other day since it would be very interesting to drive....

Jr, I'm only the king for as long as the Rat isn't online. He'll nail me good soon. At least I made the 700 club first! He'll smoke me to 8,9, and 1,000. Most of my post activity has been for the timeline, and I've just about wrapped up all the research.

Tim, if you have what'* actually called the series I, not the HO, you have 165 horse.
Did that make your day? Love your body style, too. Classic clean lines. I'd love to have a pair like JR. Pop a manual tranny in there and you've got a HELLUVA sleeper!

Hope everyone gets some good use out of the timeline.....when it gets done. Spent all day smoking my taillights....pics gonna be posted soon....

We'll see about that too, Will. You can have the lead for now mind you, I'm in no hurry around here! I just post it as I see it after all! Sometimes I've got alot to say on a subject & sometimes nothing at all to say.
