Default Delco Ignition change, any difference?

I was wondering if anyone could give me feedback as to the difference they see if any, in the way the car responds on acceleration, since they changed to the Delco Ignition. Was thinking of doing it also but was wondering if the difference is a lot to make it a worthwhile change? I find the pick-up on the bonnie to be quite slow.

Mid-range on my car is much better, I had a sluggish area from 1500-2500 RPM, that is much better now. It is not a miracle power source, but it helps a lot cruising at 55 (around 1500 rpm) to keep that speed on hills

The biggest difference I noticed was throttle response. Let'* say I was idling.. the car was up to running temp and all that stuff. Then, I put my foot to the floor, there would be this delay.. like the engine would take a nap, then wake up a second later. It was really weird. I have also noticed this problem in other H-Bodies around here, with the Magnavox ignition. Now it is intantanious.. idling, step on gas, go. Also the car revs faster.. almost like I added a lighter flywheel faster. She also can chirp them consistantly versus not being able to at all before the mod. The idle became smoother [I had a weak ignition to begin with], and it was just all around a good mod. She hasn't been on the highway since the mod [no insurance], so I cannot comment on highway differences. But, if your Magnavox ignition isn't new, I say go for it. Just clean every mating surface up. If the ICM doesn't ground on the ICM Bracket, the ignition will NOT work [I found this out the hard way]. So, clean everything up real good.. take a grinder to it if you must. There was a lot of goo on my bracket, that I am sure was limiting my ignition output.

Also, one last note, I have aftermarket coils [Accel], so that may make a difference in my performance over others.

Do it! It worked wonders for my car. Like said before, the throttle respons increased, but also I havn't had a hard start since I changed mine. This will help you especially if you live in a place with a cold or wet winter. I would also recommend changing your wires and plugs while your at it if that hasn't been done in a long time...

Actually el capetan.. a good running Magnavox ignition gives fine cold weather starting. Your problem was that you needed a tune up and your Magnavox ignition was probably on it'* last legs. However, most of the modules and coilpacks are shot by now.. so you aren't alone. My system was alright, although the spark was weak on 3 [sometimes would go out, and you would REALLY know], 4 and 6.

Default using bosch platinum plugs

Have read that it'* not good to use bosch. Is there a reason for this. The car seems to drive
ok but the mileage is not great. Would the AC Delco make a difference in mileage?

Thanks for all your input. Will probably upgrade the ignition once I find a series II from the junk yard. Also jr3800 mentioned the NGK TR55 plugs as the choice plugs. Thanks again.
