GM Part no help
From what I remember someone out there is a parts clerk. I'm doing the intake manifold and the manual calls out P/N 12345336 for the side gaskets. It'* coming up a bad number. I've asked three dealers for a replacement number and got three different numbers. Can anyone help on this with the right number? I think it is RTV.

The number is RTV (I think). Yes I am replacing the intake gaskets and it says to put 12345336 on the ends of the side gaskets. I got the gasket set from GM. I just wanted to use the sealant that the book calls out.
I have it apart right now. I could take some pictures. Been having trouble trying to post 'em on this site. All my pictures come out huge.
I was gonna start a new thread on how I put everything back together.

Incidentially, The manual didn't say anything about RTV on the gaskets which touch the heads. Am I supposed to just put the gaskets in with no RTV?

There is no RTV used on the head gaskets. There are four gaskets used between the intake manifold and the heads and block valley since there is no seperate valley cover. The two intake gaskets on the heads are conventional, the two that rest on the valley are just thin pieces of rubber. A dab of RTV is often used to seal the ends of the rubber strip to the intake manifold gasket.
I do not care for RTV unless something is broken but is nothing wrong with a dot to hold everything in place while the manifold is lowered onto the heads.

Just to clarify. I use RTV on the very small four corners where the block valley gaskets meet the intake-head gaskets?
When I put the head gaskets in, I theoretically use no RTV?

There was RTV on the four corners where my LIM gasket met the intake seals. RTV on the head gaskets will just burn off from the heat. Unless it'* high temp.. refer to the back of the tube, to see it'* maximum heat tolerance. What temps do the heads see? I'm going to check mine shortly. I suggest putting a small amount on the LIM gaskets and intake seals. Put a little more on the intake seals, that is a common leak spot.. or at least on my engine it sure as hell was. I can post some pics of my intake, with gaskets that leaked, before cleaning. Trust me, it'* not pretty.
