swapping out factory sound on 87
I'm looking to gun the delco box for something a little more current, but am having a bitch of a time getting the old one out, its almost impossible to get a decent look underneath, but removed the ash pan and rack, rear retainer ror radio, is there another screw somewhere? could only find pics online for newer bonnie w/screws exposed on the front, but mine has the solid plastic dashpiece surrounding with just 2 skinny slits, 1 each side. Any help woud be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the '87-91 head unit mounting system, but it sounds as if these may be the type that use a flat "key" to unlock the hanger brackets on the sides of the HU. If so, any thin flat piece of metal can be used to insert along the sides of the unit to release the unit from the brackets. Then pull the HU straight out.

LMAO... Sorry Guy...
It is too easy... But finding that one Screw is a PITA... I can't tell you how long I had to stare in amazement as to why the radio would not come out...
Open the Ash Tray or pull it all the way out.... Look above what would be the ashtray and you will see a Black bracket with 1 Torx screw iirc... That will the the one holding you up... When you finally get the HU out you'll see how it works..
