Unhappy Help. What to do?

My white 88 Bonneville SSE needs to be retired. The windshield has broken because of a hidden, and what I deem a disastrous non-repairable situation. I do like the car and have owned it for the last 5 years. I only discovered the rust because the windshield had broken after I had it towed to my house when the engine crapped out. It has an intermittent stalling problem once warmed up. I spent a whole weekend diagnosing it and came to the conclusion it is most likely the crank sensor. Once I saw the reason for the broken windshield, I stopped all work on it. I don't think a new windshield will hold up for very long. Wasting my time at this point.

I have not decided if I want to drive it to the salvage yard a half mile from my house and see what they will give me for it, or if I should part it out. It has 186k on it, runs, drives and sounds great, other than the intermittent stalling. Also the torque converter clutch is failing and I have been driving it around for the last year with the connector unplugged. The tranny shifts perfectly and I was going to put a new converter in it soon but now I’m glad I found this rust problem before pulling the engine. I’m almost tempted to pull the engine and tranny in the outside chance I can find an H body to transplant it into.

Does anyone have an interest in this car?
If so, I’m located in southern NH. Make an offer if you will and help me decide what to do with this Bonneville. I’m truly going to miss her.

Rich.

There does come a point when the cancer get'* so bad that the structural components are compromised and repairs cost more than the value of the car. The windshield and the frame are a very important part of the roof integrity and protection for the occupants in a roll over. So, I think you've made the right decision...as bad as it hurts.
