Default original front side marker illumination?

Hi guys,

here in Germany, side markers are sometimes not exactly legal. So in my Bonnie the previous owner switched off the front side markers. But how is the original setting? Which yellow lamps are constantly on on US-models, the ones on the side, the ones right in the front or both?

Can somebody help me out to turn back the Bonnie to its orignal setting?

Thanks!

Well it depends. On my 87, it'* kind of confusing but i'll try to explain it. It may be different on the 89'*. Well the way mine works, when the parking or headlights are OFF, the signal in the bumper and the signal in the corner lense (next to the headlight) flash together. Just so u know there are 2 separate bulbs in the cornering light, one for the turn signal one for the cornering lamp. Now, when the headlights are ON, the bumper signal and the signal in the cornering light flash alternately, and the "cornering lamp" comes on steady. Now somewhere i heard that 87 was the only hear for the cornering lamp, but i could be wrong. Anyone else got input here?

Do you mean a white cornering light? Mine does not have one. I only have an orange signal in the bumper and in the corner. Mine do never come on steady as this is kinda prohibited in Germany.
But anyways, I want them to come on steady in US-style. So as far I understand only the orange bulb in the corner comes on steady, not the one in the bumper? :?:

Yes the orange cornering light right off the side of your headlight. There is a small bulb in there on the bottom edge that flashes like a turn signal, and the large part of the lense lights up WHEN the headlights are on and you turn the signals on. If your car was never equipped like this i doubt u could hook it up to work.

Okay, I checked a couple of pictures on cardomain.com and discovered that there have to be indeed 2 seperate bulbs in the orange corner lamp. On my Bonnie, the one in the bottom does not work. But I think they just cutted the wires when the Bonnie was imported to Germany. So I will just have to reconnect them Now hopefully my service manual will come in handy when trying to access the bottom bulb...

Ya i bet they just switched the two around because over here the bottom one is the signal and the upper one is the corning light. If you have bulbs in both but wiring on only one that could be ur problem.

Unfortunately I just discovered that mine only has the lower one :( But I'm thinking about drilling holes in the upper part of the cornering light and to install new bulbs

Could somebody with 2 bulbs in the corner please mail me some cliose-up pics of the whole assembly? It would definatly help me
