Default Temp Guage Question

Ok so I had to swap my temp cluster out for a new one as the temp guage was not working. That was a success. Here is my situation. The guage now moves slightly to say it is working but when the car warms up it stays at the same position. Any ideas on what it could be?? Sensor? Wiring? any help would be great.

How much does it move ? The bottom line is 100F and the 1/4 mark is 195F. At 180F mine sits about 2/3 of the way from the bottom to the 1/4 mark (straight up is 220F). The guage is not linear.

Your gauge should be a bit higher than this

Thanks again to Jr for the pic, lmfao.

In our cars the first line is 40 though so the needle itself will still be sitting in the same position. He is using a 180 stat so that is why yours should read at the line or just above it at normal operating temp while driving.

Good scan tool will give a digital readout of the actual coolant temperature indicated by the sender. Scan tool and fuel pressure gage are two tools anyone intending to keep one this old should have right behind a factory service manual.

Factory gauges are so innacurate that they might as well be none, some, or too much

If the guage was open would I not have no heat? Yes I agree at the scan tool....and the service manual....both of which I will purchase later....I have some immediate repairs to do to the car...
