I think i found a motor <$100
It going to take $250 to call it a done deal.

but this has me second guessing it, I don't want to save and drive 500 miles to get a boat anchor
Also the first motor I found for $400 local was the best deal i seen so far. All the pick and pulls want $600-$800 for a motor. And that'* for the motor itself! I just want my LaSabor to fly again :(

i removed the spark plugs and put automatic transmission fluid down the clyinders to keep the cylinder walls from rusting

Be Careful
I'd be careful about that engine. The picture he shows of the engine is NOT a 1991 3800 engine. After 1990 the started using a 2 piece air intake. The picture shows a single unit air intake. This engine could work, but you may need to re-wire, and re-arrange soem sensors and wiring. I've utilized 3.8 & 3800 engines since '85 and know them pretty well. Just check it out.
Wow, that much for an engine at a Pick-N-Pull? Here locally they charge $100.00 with a $35.00 core fee.

Looks identicle to mine, right down to the coil packs.

If the engine looks the same as yours, it is the same one. GM phases in engines and transmissions at different times on different car lines. If it was a '91 Buick it would most likely be a TPI engine and an electronic transmission, it appears Pontiac was a year or two later for the same combination, not sure about Oldsmobiles. There is more that the intake manifold that is different, EGR (or the lack of it) thermostat housing, fuel rail, heater hose connections, PCV system, although almost all of them are connected to the intake.

buick started in 1992 if I recall but coudl have in the 1991.5 ones as they did put the L67 in the 1991.5 cars I believe.

That is the same as my 2 1990 SSE cars with the EGR in the BACK of the engine. It is also the same as the engine I got from an 88 Trofeo to replace a blown one.

yeah that is very true there is no way of telling if the engine will run well or not, it is all a matter of opinion...
doesn't look like it is in the greatest shape of its life...i mean mine looks worse than that and runs perfectly...so you really can't tell, but the milage is a LITTLE high...
