Default Different Master Cylinders

What I need from you guys, is a picture of your Master Cylinder. I can't seem to find any pictures of the 'other' Master Cylinders. I need one from each year [in our gen], and unless you have the same options of one already posted, post your'* too [like '89 with ABS, electronic brakes, and it'* the original].

I need to know:
- The Year and Trim Level
- ABS or not
- Electronic or Vaccum Assisted [not necessary.. but it'd be nice if you could include that]
- If it was replaced, and any information you have on the replacement [IE new, used, reman, different year, etc..]
- Does it make a 'whirring' noise when you first turn the ignition on that day or after the car has been sitting a while.

If you have any extra information I didn't ask for that you think pertains to this topic, please share .

'89 SSE, ABS (works good too), electronic, I have no idea if it has ever been replaced, and it does make the whirring noise sometimes when I first turn on the ignition.

Hope this helps...if you need any more pictures just ask, I took a few.

Hehe, it makes me feel special that this thread was inspired by my bonneville lol.

Year / Trim: 1989 LE
Brakes: No ABS, vaccume assisted brakes.
Whirring - Yes, I can hear this more so within the car than outside.

Sorry no good pic but i've got a 1987, no ABS, disc front drum rear. Mine is identical to the one above ^^^^.

See Captian'* pic to see what mine looks like in both the 89 and 90.

The ABS units in this gen will be the TEVES electro mechanical (non vacuum) in 88 through 90. It was dropped in 91 for the vacuum assisted system similar to the one in my 93. I'm not sure of the ABS application, if any, in 87 so we'll have to wait for more pics.

Mine is all original as far as I know and I've never been happy with the performance. I probably should change the accumulator but haven't yet. I am going to take the one off of the 89 to see if that makes any difference. If it does, I'll put a new one in but if not I'll probably explore a swap for a non-ABS system. Might even consider emailing Baer or another aftermarket company to see if there is an aftermarket application.

That 'whirring' noise you hear is the pump building pressure in the accumulator and is normal is the car has been sitting for a while. Since there is no pump in a vacuum assisted, non-ABS system there is no sound associated with the brakes.

Randy: that'* what I thought, but punk[doesn't]rulz says he hears the EXACT noise I hear when mine pressurize. The whirr..... CLICK done. Those with electronic brakes know what I am talking about.. it'* that noise man.

What else could make that noise, anyways? He doesn't have ELC, so it isn't that.. and vaccum assisted brakes don't pressurize until the engine is running.. idk, it'* got me confused.

Maybe it'* the fuel pump prime? It buzzes for 2 seconds after the ignition is turned on. You think it would be audible from under the hood?

No way is a fuel pump loud enough to be heard in the cab. Mine doesn't make a whirring noise, but it does kinda make a 'click' noise when it'* done. But it'* barely audible under the hood.. let alone in the car. Plus we couldn't reproduce it when we were on the phone.. so it'* got me. The pump runs no matter what for ~2 seconds after the ignition is turned on. Then shuts off if the engine isn't cranked in that time.

You can see it there off in the corner... 1991 SSE (w/ ABS, of course), master cylinder has been replaced, according to the previous owner...

Vacuum assisted, may or may not be remanned. All I know is that it may be the root of feeling-free (feedback? what feedback?) and non-linear braking.

Oh you can hear the fuel pump in the car if you're really quiet, and have the radio and the blower off. I know i can hear mine prime, then the relay CLICK and it shuts off. It'* unmistakeable.
