Jim, was this a sudden issue or has this been a problem from day one? It seems to me that you have some leakdown of fuel pressure... Have you had the fuel filter replaced?
Don, the filter has been changed, it was done in Feb of 2003. The problem with the start up began one week before I had the timing fixed. See at that time I assumed that the bad timing was affecting my startup. Then along with code 41, code 42 (crank sensor) was being called up. However, once code 41 was cleared, 42 also cleared and turns out nothing was wrong with the crank sensor.

The problem with cold starts has continued to be a problem for about a month now...or so :?

Since I live in a warm climate, my experience may be different. Then again I tend to replace things on first marginal performance (just replaced the solenoid on Bonne because occasionally it would just go "click" and on next try would start. To me that is 60% solenoid, 30% starter, 10% "other" (e.g. bad starter cable)). Intermittants are the hardest to find.

BTW I often leave the 3800 TranSport sitting in the garage for weeks at a time. Always starts on the first try.
