Default Headlight aimed wrong!

My drivers side headlamp was cracked and broken so I replaced it. The replacement looked perfectly fine, and I beleive it is, except I get get it to aim right. If I put it on, then slide on the two retention clips, I CANNOT, in no way, get the screw in. It lines up a tad bit off with the hole. So I tried putting the screw in first, and then dealt with the clips. I was able to do this, but the headlight isn't *quite* flush with the grille, and it is pointing upwards a little too high. I have NO idea why it won't go it right. The headlight and assembly is idetical to the old one, and the new one isn't broken in any way.

I doubt theres anything you can really say...but why can't I get this to work! :?

When I replaced a low beam bulb for the first time a few years back, I had a problem getting the locking ring secure. When I turned on the headlights at night, I lit up the leaves of the trees but it did not do too much for illuminating the road ahead of me. As it turns out, I installed the bulb upside down. Once I removed the bulb assembly again and turn the unit about 180 degrees, the bulb went into the mounting socket perfectly and the locking ring went on easily. The results were a perfectly aimed headlamp. I know your problem doesn't talk about the bulb, but I thought this might help.
